I think it's definitely irresponsible and insensitive of the Danish media to publish those cartoons, especially in the face of better technology that makes information easily accessible worlwide, and the rising religious tension caused by anti-terrorism campaigns often directed at the Middle Eastern countries, whose population is dominated by Muslims. And they should not point the elsewhere - freedom comes with responsibilty.Perhaps the Muslims are not outraged just because of the cartoons but because of the fact that the Western countries (esp. USA) have been putting them under scrutiny with the anti-terrorism efforts. Perhaps they can't contain their dissatisfaction any longer and the cartoons cause an outburst of their frustration.
But the violent protests are not the way to go either. If they are mad because the cartoon equates Islam to terrorism, why are they promoting this violence by burning down embassies and shoutings that they will kill those who offend the Prophet? Besides, why didn't we see the same commitment in upholding Muslim values when extremists carried out those beheadings and suicide bombings?
